Michigan still has a law on the books from 1931 that bans all abortions in the state. But Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel, a pro-abortion Democrat, are vowing to disobey that law if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide. If that happens as expected later this month, abortion would be an issue for each state to decide individually.
